Physician from Unicamp Department of Radiology attended workshop at University of Stanford, CA, USA

Lucas M. D. Freire, doctor from the Department of Radiology of Hospital de Clinicas (HC) of University of Campinas (Unicamp) participated in an Advanced Endovascular Workshop at University of Stanford, Palo Alto, CA, USA, from September 23th to 27th. He visited the Department of Vascular Surgery with doctor Jason Lee, professor of Surgery and Director of Endovascular Surgery Program. Lee is mainly focused in diseases of the aorta, like aneurysms and dissections and specially in minimally invasive treatments as endografts implants.

Lucas had the opportunity to observe new devices not yet available in Brazil, to treat complex aortic diseases, as a new branched graft that allows preservation of flow to the hypogastric arteries during the endovascular repair of aorto-iliac aneurysms. Along with with another four Brazilian colleagues, he discusses cases and attend lectures of doctor Michael Dake, known as a pioneer of Endovascular surgery and author of many peer-reviewed articles about aortic dissections and peripheral artery disease.



Lucas graduated as physician in 2001 at Unicamp. Also completed the General Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Surgery residency at the same institution. He visited the Arizona Heart institute em 2006, during three months as part of his Endovascular program. He concluded his masters degree also at Unicamp in 2016 and works in the department of Radiology, as an interventional radiologist since 2009. He got certification of specialty in Interventional Radiology and Endovascular Surgery in 2019.
