Dario Cecilio Fernandes, researcher from the Department of Medical Psychology and Psychiatry, School of Medical Sciences (SMS), University of Campinas (Unicamp) attended the VI Latin American Clinical Simulation Congress held in Cancun, Mexico, from October 30th to November 1st, 2019. This conference brings together everyone that is passionate about simulation training, from technical staff to researchers. The idea of creating and holding a Latin America congress is that we can create a community of people who shares the enthusiasm about simulation. The Latin America community has been increasingly growing in the last few years. This last congress had more than 300 participants from around Latin America in which we share our experiences and meet new people.

Dario also participated in a panel discussion on “Multi and Interdisciplinary in Simulation” in which he brought the perspective of a psychology and its role in simulation. He key message was that we need to offer more opportunities to students in simulation training, since we all know that training only once is not enough for learning. Based on this, Dario discussed the idea how psychologists can help in designing a training that will enhance students’ learning.

Dario has brought a great news to Brazilians interested in simulation. The next Latin American Clinical Simulation Congress in 2021 will be held in Natal. With this Congress, we hope to bring the Brazilian community closer together and showcase all the great work that has been done around Brazil and Latin America.
