During the 2019 AMEE (An International Association for Medical Education) meeting held in Vienna, Austria, from August 24th to 28th, 2019, professor Erich de Paula, representative from School of Medical Sciences (SMS) of University of Campinas (Unicamp) participated in the activities of the AAMC (American Association of Medical Colleges) Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program, to which Unicamp has just been accepted.

This program is intended to facilitate medical students to pursue short-term learning opportunities in VSLO institutions located in the United States and other countries. The learning opportunities offered as part of the program include observerships, summer research programs, clinical opportunities, away rotations, away electives, clinical rotations and visiting opportunities. Locations include teaching hospitals, community clinics, and urban or rural sites and are open to preclinical, clinical, or final-year students, as determined by the host institution.

During AMEE, the VSLO staff organized a dinner to foster networking opportunities between participating schools. Prof. Erich de Paula represented our school in this dinner an emphasized our interest in transforming this recent admission of Unicamp in VSLO program into real opportunities for both sending and hosting students from other institutions. More information can be obtained at our international office and at the VSLO website.
