There are currently 1,200 students enrolled in 12 graduate (MSc and/or PhD) programs: Child and adolescent health, Collective health, Collective health and health policies and management (professional MSc degree), Gerontology, Health, interdisciplinarity and rehabilitation, Internal medicine, Medical physiopathology, Medical sciences, Nursing, Obstetrics and gynecology, Pharmacology and Surgical sciences. Each year approximately 440 new students enroll in graduate degree programs and 130 in non-degree programs, some of whom come from other countries. The SMS graduate courses are ranked among the best in Brazil and are generally considered good or very good by the Ministry of Education; two are ranked as excellent. In 2013, the SMS published 949 articles in national and international scientific journals.
In addition to its graduate programs, the SMS offers 79 accredited medical residency programs, as well as complementary programs in 28 other areas; in all, these programs attend approximately 500 medical residents. For professionals who are not physicians, the SMS offers 120 positions in non-medical residency and specialization programs each year.
There are currently more than 800 research projects underway in 94 laboratories spread over the 40,000 m2 of buildings that form the Unicamp health complex. The SMS also has an up-to-date library with a collection of 18,500 books and 1,500 journals, 600 of which are available for loan. Each year the library acquires 50-80 new titles for undergraduate programs and in 2010-2011 received 553 new titles for graduate programs in the medical sciences. The collection also includes 4,275 masters dissertations and doctoral theses.
