I. TITLE:
TRAUMATISM AND VIOLENCE –
psychopathological effects and clinical approaches

II. GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This workshop aims to study the psychopathological incidence of trauma and violence as well as its therapeutic challenges from a theoretical and clinical perspective.

 

III. WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:

The following topics will be addressed:

01. Definition of "trauma" and its psychopathological incidences
02. Historical aspects linked to the notions of "trauma", "traumatic neurosis", "war trauma" and "post-traumatic stress disorder"
03. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
04. Definition of "Violence" and its psychopathological implications
05. The Map of Violence in the World
06. The Map of Violence in Brazil
07. War situations – The case of the Vietnam War
08. Trauma and violence and its relations to social conditions: homicides, suicides and traffic accidents
09. Introduction to Victimology: the concepts of "Victim" and "Survivor"
10. Sexual violence against women
11. Sexual violence against children
12. The question of suicide
13. Overview of clinical and therapeutic approaches.
14. Medication approaches
15. Cognitive-behavioral approaches
16. Psychodynamic approaches
17. Group approaches, support networks, family approach
18. Elaboration of integrated therapeutic projects
19. Public policies to combat violence and assist victims, survivors and their families

IV. TEACHING METHODS

- Theoretical-clinical seminars
- Discussion of clinical cases
- Presentation of DPMP-FCM services and research groups related to trauma and violence

V. EVALUATION

Minimal presence: 80%
Punctuality
The submission of a Report, deepening one of the main topics discussed on the workshop .
