Invitation

The São Paulo Research Foundation, FAPESP, and the Structural Genomics Consortium, SGC, invite you to the

Launch SGC - UNICAMP

March 10th 2015
FAPESP - Rua Pio XI, 1500 - Alto da Lapa - São Paulo
Time: 10:00 – 11:30

The event will present the Protein Kinase Chemical Biology Center, to be established at the University of Campinas (Unicamp), in a partnership between the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC) and Unicamp. Funding for the center will be provided by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), by Unicamp, and by SGC.

The center will be the first open-access research facility in this area in Brazil. As a member of SGC, it will work closely with colleagues at the University of Oxford, the University of Toronto and with several pharmaceutical companies to examine untargeted protein kinases in the human genome that may be key regulators of RNA biology and epigenetics. The center will also put together a plant biology team to interact with the biomedical team to unravel key aspects of the plant kinome and its association with drought stress.

The SGC is a public-private partnership that supports the discovery of new medicines through open source research. The University of Unicamp will host the third research center that makes up the SGC. The other centers are located at the Universities of Oxford and Toronto.
