On September 13th, 2019, doctor Gustavo P. Fraga, SMS - Unicamp International Office coordinator and SBAIT (Brazilian Trauma Society) education committee coordinator, participated in a meeting at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, Canada, with Corey Freeman, the new P.A.RTY. Program Headquarters coordinator. Freedman is a trained paramedic who most recently held the position of Manager, Certification and Patient Care Standards at the Ministry of Health.

Through that role, he worked with a team that oversaw the administration of paramedic entry-to-practice examinations and the publication of standards of care. Prior to working at the Ministry, Corey was a front-line paramedic at York Region Paramedic Services, an analyst at eHealth Ontario, and a faculty member at Humber College. Corey holds a Masters in Health Informatics from the University of Toronto.

During the meeting, which also counted with the presence of Jose “Champ” Noval, P.A.R.T.Y. coordinator, the partnership renewal between Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre for Injury Prevention and SBAIT was signed. This way, SBAIT maintains the coordination of 9 P.A.R.T.Y. centers throughout Brazil for another 5-year period.

One of these centers is the Unicamp P.A.R.T.Y., which promotes internationalization, with the presence of exchange students. The last such event occurred on September 10th and saw the presence of four students from Cardiff University, UK, and two from Linnaeus University, Sweden. The students came to Brazil in an exchange program through the Nursing School, where they met and joined the P.A.R.T.Y. activities.
