On July 28, 2022, after the critical pandemic, Dr. Clea Simone S. S. Colombo finally participated in the official Graduation Ceremony of her Master’s Degree in Science of Sports Cardiology at St. George’s University of London. The graduation ceremony has taken place at Barbican Centre in London, including many other graduation and post-graduation courses, with music, pledge and joy. Dr. Clea received her medical degree from the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) at the University of Campinas (Unicamp) in 1994, after she completed her residency in Cardiology at the same institution. She has been working in the Sports Medicine area in Campinas, on topics like sudden cardiac death in athletes, coronary artery score and coronary plaques in veteran athletes, and post-COVID-19 cardiovascular preparticipation screening for returning to physical exercise and sports. In September 2017, she started her Master of Science in Sports Cardiology at St. George’s University of London, and spent more than one year in the UK, including advanced practice training in Sports Cardiology at Instituto di Medicina e Scienza dello Sport (CONI – Italian Olympic Committee) in Rome, Italy. The course was concluded after the evaluation of her thesis on “The role of Echocardiogram in the Pre-participation Screening of athletes”, being approved “with merit”. This course was a pioneer in the sports cardiology area, as the first post-graduation in the world, headed by outstanding professionals such as Dr. Sanjay Sharma and Dr. Michael Papadakis and the partnership of Dr. Antonio Pelliccia in Italy. Dr. Clea was the first student outside of Europe admitted to attending the course. Since 2019, she has been working as Professor at Sao Leopoldo Mandic Medical School in Campinas and in her private practice Sportcardio in Valinhos, SP.
