The medical resident Angelo Borsarelli Carvalho de Brito, from the Department of Internal Medicine of School of Medical Sciences (SMS) of University of Campinas (Unicamp) presented his project entitled “Angiogenesis’ related polymorphism emerges as a prognostic marker in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma patients” in the oral session of the meeting.

In this study, conducted at the Cancer Genetic Laboratory and advised by Prof. Carmen Silvia Passos Lima and Prof. Jose Vassallo, Dr. Brito concluded that there is an association between vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF-A) and the type 2 receptor (VEGFR2) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) enrolled in the angiogenesis pathway with prognosis in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients.
