The Professor Ken Herrmann, MD, MBA, Chair of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Essen, Germany, will present on Wednesday, August 15th, 2018, from 7:30 to 9:00 AM, the lecture “PSMA Update” during a combined meeting between Division of Urologic Oncology of Department of Surgery and Post Graduate Program in Medical Clinic of School of Medical Sciences (SMS), University of Campinas (Unicamp).

Dr. Herrmann will explain the role of a new nuclear medicine procedure for prostate cancer using the molecule PSMA (prostate-specific membrane antigen). PSMA is as a highly promising target for diagnostic and therapeutic use in prostate cancer. Diverse PSMA ligands have been developed for radiolabeling with radioisotopes such as gallium-68, which can be used for specific visualization and diagnosis of PSMA-expressing prostate cancer. In addition, PSMA can be radiolabed with 177Lu and other beta or alpha emitters for disease treatment. In his lecture, he will provide a review of the most frequently used PSMA ligands and their impact on clinical applications.

The lecture will be held at Telemedicine room, Clinical Hospital - Unicamp, 3rd floor, and it is open free of charge for undergraduate and post graduate students, residents, physicians, and healthcare professionals.
