Representatives from Unicamp, Chiba University and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) met at the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM) to evaluate the cooperation agreement signed in 2017 between the two universities and JICA. The agreement provides for the investment of R $ 5 million from JICA in FCM for five years to carry out clinical research projects in infectology. According to FCM infectious disease physician Maria Luiza Moretti, the partnership foresees the entry of patients from the Boldrini Children's Center to carry out fungal research from that year.

The Federal Government of Brazil, represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in 2017, signed an International Technical Cooperation Agreement  with the Japanese Government, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency , for the development and implementation of the following project "The establishment of a research and reference collaborative system for the diagnosis of fungal infections including drug-resistant ones both in Brazil and Japan", sponsored by "Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development" (SATREPS ).

The agreement was signed on March 31, 2017. This international cooperation agreement, between JICA and the University of Campinas, implemented the project in the Faculty of Medical Sciences of UNICAMP (FCM-Unicamp), Area of Infectious Diseases,  Department of Internal Medicine and has  scientific and academic collaborations of the Medical Mycology Research Center, Chiba University, Japan. The agreement included annual meetings of the Join Coordinating Committee (JCC).
